Welcome to our house
The Moullin House is a hostel for students owned and managed by the Ealing Trinity Circuit of the Methodist Church. The house was built through the generosity of Mr and Mrs T.J. Moullin in memory of Mrs Moullin's sister. The family were originally from Guernsey but lived in Ealing for many years. They were members of the Ealing Broadway Methodist Church. This church has since amalgamated with the United Reformed Church on Ealing Green and the original building is now used by the Polish Catholic Church. Mr Moullin was one of the founder members of the Pearl Assurance Company.
The house was opened in 1951. It is a four-store, red-brick building in the Georgian style. The ground floor is mainly public rooms and there are single and twin rooms for about fifty people on the upper floors. The house stands in a prominent position on a curve along Mount Park Road. It is set well back behind a generous lawn and mature trees. The house was built to provide a Christian home with a family atmosphere for students coming to London for university or college, or for training in work.
The house is intended for students staying on a long-term basis of up to three years but if it has vacancies it will consider guests of any age staying for short periods. Unfortunately, at the moment, the House cannot accommodate physically or mentally handicapped students. The House has undertaken some major renovations including fitting washbasins in all rooms. The Management Committee, together with the Warden, reserves the right to require residents to leave the House at any time without notice.
There are three full-time staff living in the House and they are willing to help residents in whatever way they can. Also, the House Chaplain, Rev. Alan Spence, minister at Ealing Green Church, visits the House regularly to meet residents and staff. The staff and the Management Committee hope that all residents will enjoy their time at the Moullin House and will find it a welcoming place.
Priority is given students between 18 to 25 years of age on a full-time course at a recognised university or college. Such students may stay for up to three years. Mature students, those over 25 years of age, are not usually offered places unless there is an exceptional vacancy, and then for only one year. Similarly, young workers will be allowed to stay for up to one year.
All rooms have a 13 amp socket. Residents are asked to use gantries rather than adapters. No more than two pieces of equipment should be used at any one time. All electrical equipment brought into the House by students must be tested and certified for safety. Front-door swipe cards are issued to all residents. Please report any lost keys to the Warden immediately so that they can be cancelled. Replacement cards cost £5.
Doctors & Dentists
It is most important that students register with a local doctor and dentist as soon after their arrival as possible. The easiest way to do this is to register at the university health centre. If you do not do this, getting medicalattention if you are ill can be very difficult. If residents require a special diet because of health or belief, they should inform the chef before or on arrival.
Televisions in students' rooms
All students need a TV licence if they have a television in their rooms. If you are uncertain how to get one, please ask the staff.
Insurance
Residents are advised to take out their own insurance for their valuables. The insurance cover provided by the house is limited. It has a maximum value of £500-00 per room and does not cover cash or cheques. There is a £100-00 excess on the policy. Cash and cheques may be put in the Office safe where they are still not insured but may be regarded as being more secure. The management of the Moullin House cannot accept any responsibility for the property of people staying at the House.

Breakfast from Monday to Friday is served from 7.30am to 8.30am
